Shopping list:
- brownie mix plus ingredients
- 8 oz. cream cheese (depending on how you want to make this layer, you may use powder sugar or a cup of homemade frosting or a jar of whipped frosting in the baking aisle I suggest.)
- a small bag of whole pecans and walnuts
- cool-whip frosting
- 2 regular boxes of chocolate pudding plus milk
I did my homework on this type of cake. My gram would make this for my dad every year for his birthday. He requested that I make it for him this year. I added a little twist to her version.
Normally the cake is a nutty crust for the bottom layer but instead I did a box of brownie mix with extra walnuts and pecans.
Then I had made a cream cheese frosting layer(8oz cream cheese plus powder sugar. I had a small amount, about a cup, of my frosting so I added the cream cheese to that.)
I had extra crushed walnuts from my mom's birthday cake earlier this month so to keep the nutty layer going I added that next on top of the cream cheese layer.
I bought two boxes of chocolate pudding or buy one family box of chocolate pudding. I did about a 1.5 cup of milk to keep the pudding thick. Lathered that on top gently over the walnuts.
Instead of regular whip-cream, I bought the new frosting edition. Worked amazing with the cake.
